We are offering Survival Skills/Bushcraft in North Phoenix throughout the 2024-2025 school year.
All classes will take place at Paradise Valley Park in N. Phoenix. Tuesday Suvival Skills takes place at Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale.
ECO Survival Skills/Bushcraft is for children in 3rd-7th grade (approximate ages 8-13 yrs old). Survival Skills/Bushcraft offers a combination of hands-on practical application and some lecture as we learn the 7 priorities of survival. Older siblings are welcome to attend this class too but we will be running one for just older children.
This program is not drop off.
Join us for a 9-part series where students learn about the 7 priorities to desert/wilderness survival. This survival skills class will cover the seven priorities of survival: Positive Mental Attitude, Wilderness First Aid, Shelter options, Fire, Signaling (including lost behavior), Water, and Food.
Here is some of the hands-on instruction we will be doing: creating a shelter (various kinds), wilderness first aid (caring for snake bite, bee stings, knife cuts, burns, etc), signaling (whistle and mirror), knot tieing (make a paracord bracelet), basic compass instruction/orienteering, fire (practice w/ a ferrocerium rod) and more.
We will also discuss pre-preparation and what you should keep in your hiking bags at all times to ensure you are prepared when exploring the wilderness.
Students will receive a survival kit that includes flint/steel, a compass, a pocket knife, signaling devices, bandana, first aid supplies, and more.
There are only 12 openings for this program!
9-part series $140/child. Cost includes a survival kit that includes flint/steel, a compass, a pocket knife, signaling devices, bandana, first aid supplies, and more.
