If you would like to schedule a private program for your school, birthday party, homeschool and/or scout group please see a list of our offerings below then submit a request. We will currently travel up to 45 minutes from Phoenix, AZ. Travel costs will be added onto the program(s) and vary depending on distances (the lead teacher rely on Uber for transportation due to not being to drive).
Once you complete the request form please allow 48 hrs for us to get back to you regarding the next steps.
If you don't see a topic listed ask us and we can most likely do it as long as its nature/science related (basically an ology) We can also offer any of our scheduled programs for private groups (like the longer survival course, rock-hounding club, Cabinet of Curiosities, etc).
3 hr class - Subjects of instruction will be the seven priorities of survival: Positive Mental Attitude, Wilderness First Aid, Shelter, Fire, Signaling, Water, and Food.
Here are some of the hands-on instruction that is done during the class: creating a shelter (various kinds), wilderness first aid (caring for the patient in the woods, snake bite, bee stings, knife cuts, and burns), signaling (whistle and mirror), knot tieing, basic compass instruction, fire (each child will light a cotton ball w/ a ferrocerium rod) and more.
The class also includes making mini survival kits (which kid's get to take home) and discussing what you should keep in your hiking bags at all times to be prepared.

3 hr class - Students will learn about some of common birds of Arizona through several hands on activities. Then we will take a birding hike and afterwards make pinecone bird feeders.

3 hr class - Students will learn about animal signs, including scat, tracks, holes and more. We will make plaster casts of tracks, complete a critter scene investigation activity and more.

3 hr class - For this class students will learn about famous naturalists of Arizona and how to use historic journals to understand wildlife. Through hands on activities students will delve into and decipher some of these writings, learn more about nature journaling and learn about several famous naturalists who explored AZ.

2 1/2 hr class - We offer many themes for this program. We will have a storytime, followed by some loose parts play. The children will also be able to touch and examine some specimens. We will then take a short nature hike (approximately .50-.75 miles) to look for items centered around our theme. Afterwards we will have a craft or art project.

2 hr class - If you are curious about geocaching but never got around to giving it a try now is your chance. We will help you learn the in's and out's of geocaching and even how geocaching got its start. We will even teach you some cool lingo, like Muggle and swag. Then we will help you launch your groups first geobug trackable as we search for some local caches (there will be hiking and some possible bushwacking).

3 hr class - Students will learn about amazing world of macroinvertebrates and how they can help us determine the quality of water bodies. We will collect macroinvertebrates and also conduct a chemical water test to see how the 2 reults compare. Students will make underwater viewers using cans and they will also participate in a couple hands on learning ractivities, like macroinvertebrate mayhem.

3 hr class - Students will learn about creatures with fangs and stingers and why we don't need to fear these creatures. We will discuss venomous vs poisonous and what the difference is. Students will even get an up close look at some of these fascinating creatures. Students will participate in several hands on activities.

3 hr class - For this class students will be learning about the "unlovables" and the misconceptions or perceptions they and others may have about certain animal species. Through hands on activities and discussions students will learn about a variety of animals that they and others may find incredibly difficult to love. Maybe it is the way they look or how they behave. Maybe it is just misconceptions. Whatever the reason, many people don't like them. Students will learn the natural history of several animals in an effort to dispel myths and misunderstandings about them.

3 hr class - Students will learn about invasive and introduced species, both plants and animals that threaten Arizona's biodiversity. Students will participate in several hands on activities. If we are able (dependent on the season) we will take part in removing invasive plants.

3 hr class - Students will learn about wetlands in Arizona and why they are important. Wetlands are scattered throughout Arizona and can be categorized into various forms, including wet meadows, vernal pools, and ciénegas (marshes). Students will participate in several hands on activities.

3 hr class - Students will learn about citizen/community science which is a collaboration between scientists and people who are just curious or concerned and motivated to make a difference. Getting youth involved in authentic, experiential, scientific investigations connects them to their communities, as well as a network of professional scientists that can inspire scientific thinking and drive passion. Gathering data will help generate questions that can be used as a springboard for further investigations and research. Community science is an impactful way to bring youth closer to the world around them and teach them scientific thinking. Students will participate in several hands on activities.
