Environmental Education Programs

Family Environmental Education Programs:
Below you will find a calendar with our scheduled family events. Our  events are open to all families. All of our events require  pre-registration, even our free ones. Please read and follow the event  details for information on rsvping, paying, etc. RSVPs are collected  through Google Doc forms and payment is accepted via PayPal.
 

Private Environmental Education Programs:
If you would like to schedule a private program for your school,  homeschool and/or scout group please see a list of our offerings below.  We will currently travel up to 1 1/2 hrs from Phoenix. We will be adding  additional program offerings soon, so please be sure to check back  often. You can also email us with class topic inquiries and we can let you know if it is something we offer your group.

Survival Skills Class:
3 hr class - Subjects of instruction will be the seven priorities of  survival: Positive Mental Attitude, Wilderness First Aid, Shelter, Fire,  Signaling, Water, and Food
 

Here are some of the hands-on instruction that is done during the class:  creating a shelter (various kinds), wilderness first aid (caring for  the patient in the woods, snake bite, bee stings, knife cuts, and  burns), signaling (whistle and mirror), knot tieing, basic compass  instruction,  fire (each will mlight a cotton ball w/ a ferrocerium rod)  and more.
 

The class also includes making mini survival kits (which kid's get to  take home) and discussing what you should keep in your hiking bags at  all times to be prepared.
 

Cost: $17 per child; the cost includes a mini survival kit which the kids will make and get to take home
Ages: 5-18 yrs old (please note the class is only 2 hrs for groups with children under age 7)
Minimum Group Size: 10 kids
Maximum Group Size: 25 kids
This is not a drop off program. Parents, guardians and/or chaperones must be present.

Desert Plant Adaptations Class:
3 hr class - Students will learn about desert plants and the amazing  ways they have adapted to survive limited rainfall and high  temperatures.
 

Cost: $7 per child
Ages: 5-18 yrs old
Minimum Group Size: 10 kids
Maximum Group Size: 25 kids
This is not a drop off program. Parents, guardians and/or chaperones must be present.
